Pacific Ridge Pony Club is part of the United States Pony Club, the world's leading junior equestrian organization with 600 clubs in the United States and more clubs in 30 different countries. Our home is at Westwind Barn in Los Altos Hills.
Pacific Ridge Pony Club was founded in 1991 and is part of the Middle California Region. We offer instruction and competition (rallies) in dressage, combined training, show jumping, mounted games, Tetrathlon, "The Quiz" (similar to a spelling bee for horse facts), and fox hunting, minus the fox.
Our club usually meets on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the each month for lessons, trail rides and rally practices. We also have a drop-in lesson on Wednesday afternoons. The drop-in lesson is open to those who can comfortably jump their mounts. We usually ride at Westwind Barn in Los Altos Hills but also ride at the Horse Park at Woodside. Additional clinics and unmounted horse management meetings are scheduled as needed.
Pony Clubbers participate at their own pace. Some attend every meeting; others work Pony Club into their varied and busy schedules. During winter’s rainy months, we focus on horse management.
Each Pony Clubber must own or have access to a suitable mount. This usually means a well-mannered horse or pony that can jump low obstacles. Before you can become a member of Pacific Ridge, you must demonstrate you are an independent rider. This does not require significant skill just the ability to handle your mount safely at a walk and a trot.
Pacific Ridge Pony seeks to develop responsible, knowledgeable horsepersons who respect and properly care for their mounts.
